I am passionate about facilitating healing and growth in those who wish to seek it. I have been a therapist since 2004 and have experience in working with those who experience mental health and addiction issues. These include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, life changes/adjustments, gender dysphoria, substance abuse and gambling addiction. I have years of experience working with the LGBT community, military members and veterans, and those on probation/parole. I also counsel those who seek personal growth and self-empowerment. I am an empathetic and compassionate counselor with respect for cultural diversity and individual uniqueness. My graduate education and training was completed at the University of New Mexico with a Master of Arts in Counseling in 2004. I began my training at a non-profit county mental health/addictions agency in NM. In 2011, Universal Counseling was established. My undergraduate education was at Tulane University where I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Psychology in 1994. I was also enrolled in ROTC and was commissioned upon graduating. I honorably served in the United States Air Force for over seven years as a personnel officer and training officer. I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix and received my Bachelor of Science in Education, Training, and Development from Southern Illinois University. I have over ten years experience as an addictions and substance abuse counselor, over six years as an anger management counselor, domestic violence counselor and parenting educator with court-ordered clientele. I also have over eight years experience in mediating work place, family and divorce conflicts. |
